"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine."
-Proverbs 3:9
Many of us are familiar with Proverbs 3:5-6 that says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." This command to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart" is simple. It is black and white. We are to totally, completely, and in everything, trust the Lord. It doesn't leave a lot of room for gray areas.
It is easy to stop there, but the author of Proverbs knew the struggle in every human heart to trust in itself. He continues on addressing the topic of wealth. Trusting in God with all your heart, means honoring God with your wealth. Again this is a bold command. And again God shows that he will provide. If we trust Him, God will guide us in life. If we honor him with our wealth, he will provide. This seems simple but if I'm being honest, I need reminded of this daily. -Karissa
