RGBC Missions Update – February 2024

Matthew 28: 16-20

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Greetings from the RGBC Global Missions Team (GMT).  The GMT consists of five members with oversight and guidance from the elders.  The vision and hope of the Global Missions Team (GMT) is to see every member of our congregation actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.  Naturally, this will look different for each follower of Jesus. While each member should seek to serve locally, some believers may feel the Lord calling them to serve elsewhere, either on a short term or long term mission, while others may feel called to support those who are able to go.

For those who seek to support those able to go, I’d like to highlight that our congregation has a designated Missions Fund where you may provide support above and beyond your general tithe.  This designated fund helps pay the portion RGBC contributes to members who participate in trips with our mission partners. In 2024, RGBC will contribute 10% towards those trips while also offering scholarships to help offset the cost of trips for members who need additional assistance. When funds are available, there are also scholarships for non-RGBC trips where our members may wish to serve.

The designated fund is an important tool used to assist members who may otherwise not be able to serve on a short term mission trip.  Please prayerfully consider whether you are able to contribute to help others GO!  No amount is too small.

I encourage you to seek out members of the GMT or those who have participated in a short term mission trip to understand how your gift has helped members go and make disciples of all nations.  You may also contact the GMT at missions@rgbcmd.org.

Romans 10:14

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
