A Time to Flourish… A Women’s Retreat

Redeeming Grace Baptist Church   -

Over the weekend of March 15th, 47 ladies participated in our first Women’s Retreat. Our speaker, Nancy Grossman, helped us focus on practical, Biblical ways to flourish as we progress through every season of life. Here are a few main takeaways that shifted my perspective on what it means to flourish…

  1. In order to flourish we need to be content where God has placed us and in our circumstances. But we cannot hope to be content if our heart is miserable (when we have what we don’t want, and want what we don’t have). We need to deal with ourselves before God and be willing to be disciplined by God – which includes the discipline of contentment.
  2. Instead of clinging to circumstances that are not in our control, go to the One who does control them. Going to the Lord in prayer changes our hearts and brings peace – even without the guarantee of prayers being answered the way WE want them to be answered.
  3. The world wants you to be F.A.T. – to Feel, Think, and Act (in that order). Scripture commands us rather to take our thoughts captive and to think, act, and feel (in that order). Ask for wisdom and act (in faith) on what we know to be true.

In addition to the speaking sessions, we had dedicated times of group prayer and free time where we could play games, eat ice cream, make a craft, and just get to know the women of RGBC better.

Thanks to all the women (and men) who helped create such a special retreat. For those who attended, may you continue to feed yourself with the truth of God’s Word in order to be rooted and established in Him. For those who couldn’t make it, we hope to see you next time around!
