Recapping the Wood Home Group
This past May, we as a couple celebrated our 11th year participating in a home group at Redeeming Grace. Except for 2020, we have been able to either host or attend in person and because of that, polite Sunday morning salutations developed into deep and rewarding friendships that have witnessed a variety of seasons of life. Our 2024-2025 homegroup was just as impactful and we are grateful for the gift of these men and women in our lives.
We met each Wednesday evening at the home of Erik and Amanda Wood around 7pm and were led by John or Ken Mansfield. With dedicated time for corporate prayer, we began to get to know one another on a more intimate level. Our multigenerational group with ages from 80 to mid-20s created a wonderful mix of personalities, testimonies, life situations and giftings. Our prayers were as varied as the requests and praises, but the joy felt to intercede with one another allowed us to draw closer to each other and the Lord. We as a group shared many life events this year from engagements, births and sadly the home going of a beloved member. This mix of brothers and sisters have celebrated, mourned and everything in between this year and we are so grateful to be a part of a group of individuals that represent the Church universal. With the guided questions provided by the Pastors we dove deeper into the text from the previous Sunday’s sermon. We ended around 8:15 each session and closed always in prayer. We stayed to chat or snack if one was provided and spent more time catching up. Conversations that you can’t have on a Sunday morning were had, kids ran wild, dogs barked, and folks continued to grow closer to one another. Sometimes in lieu of a discussion session we had dinners based on various cuisines or time of year. Outside of homegroup individual relationships continued to thrive as folks hosted game nights, baby showers were attended, seasonal wreaths were made, trips were taken, puppies were adopted, gardens were planted and boating trips were launched.
By participating in a home group, you give yourself the opportunity to let others in the body of Christ celebrate your victories and come alongside you during your trials. We are thankful for our church family, we love our church family, and we look forward to persevering in faith together once again when we meet up in the new home group season of 2025-2026.
In His Name,
John and Teri Spinnenweber
