VBS 2025 Recap
Last week we had more than 100 kids ages 3 through 11 learn about seeing the bigness of God in the smallest of things! Over 60 volunteers from RGBC served in many different ways to care for, lead, and share the Gospel with these children.
Please enjoy some thoughts from a few of our incredible VBS Rotation & Class Leaders:
Our tiny dandelions were a great reminder of how God can use the little (ones) to magnify Himself. I was also reminded about growth. Seeing the gap in capabilities of these 4 year olds versus my 14 year old is a great reminder that we have so much more to learn in the long lives we have yet to live. Also, basically any problem can be solved with a sticker.
— Sarah Vawter, Pre-K Lead Teacher
During VBS, I had the joy of teaching a class of 2nd and 3rd graders about the salvation that comes through believing in Jesus Christ and the incredible love God has for each of them. My class included a mix of familiar faces from our church, some new visitors, and two students who had never heard the gospel or attended church before. I was especially moved by how I was able to see a glimpse into my students lives, thoughts, and deep need to know they are loved and seen. I saw the Lord work through the curiosity and open hearts of the students, especially in the honest questions asked by those who had never heard the gospel. Their thoughtful questions led to some meaningful discussions and even getting a Bible of their very own, as neither of them had one at home. One of the students promised to share the gospel with her baby brother and couldn’t wait to read and eventually pass down her Bible to him while the other student couldn’t wait to read his Bible with his grandfather who recently began to seek God in his old age. The Lord’s presence was clear in the joy, connection, and unexpected moments of understanding that unfolded throughout the week.

VBS in the nursery was wonderful. The children enjoyed lots of play and interaction. They loved singing and dancing to Magnified, doing crafts, Bible lesson concept games, playing outside in the shade, and reading books together. It was beautiful to watch them taking their baby dolls to Jesus, helping to pull a friend on a mat to Jesus, and learning what it means when we say Jesus made the wind and waves “be still.” It was an honor to plant tiny seeds of truth in these sweet little hearts.
— Sam Dill, Nursery Lead Teacher
The Fireflies class averaged seven to nine 4th and 5th graders each day with the majority of the kiddos having no ties to RGBC prior to attending VBS! Some of them developed quick bonds while others took a bit to warm up to the group but by the end of the week you would’ve never known most started the week as strangers. One kiddo in particular came into the week not super thrilled to be there but by Thursday shared with teachers that he wanted to accept Jesus as his Savior! Praise God! Please join us in praying he continues to grow in the Lord and in praying for the rest of the kiddos who attended as well. — Christina Stover, 4th-5th Lead Teacher
The highlight in the crafts room last week was hearing the kids memorize Psalm 34:3 when making the dragonfly verse reminder. Each bead had the first letter of each word of the verse, PTLGWMLUEHNT, which meant they all were repeating “Proclaim the Lord’s greatness with me; let us exalt His name together.” I think it really stuck in their heads!
— Kylee Porter, Crafts Lead
It was great seeing kids get excited about coming to church! Although a lot of my week was just managing the chaos, there were many opportunities for seeds of truth to be planted in the kids’ hearts and minds – even if they didn’t remember everything perfectly. I personally enjoyed the camaraderie of it all and just getting to know fellow church members better.
It was such a delight to lead our VBS kids through Songbird Music all week. Hearing them sing these simple truths each day, watching them work hard to learn the motions, and seeing them have fun praising God while dancing and making a joyful noise.. definitely a highlight of my years here at RGBC! It was also amazing to witness how quickly they memorized lyrics, melodies, and motions and how eager they were to learn about our Lord and Savior. What a wonderful first VBS! Praise God!
